Theme of the Week: You Were Never a Sinner
Have you ever felt the sting of being called a sinner? That deep-rooted idea that something is fundamentally wrong with you?
If so, take a deep breath and let this truth wash over you:
Jesus never said you were a sinner.
In fact, the phrase “you are a sinner” doesn’t appear on His lips anywhere in the Gospels. He didn’t teach original sin—He taught original light.
Jesus actually said:
“The Kingdom of God is within you.” — Luke 17:21
“You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14
“Let not your heart be troubled.” — John 14:27
The idea that you were born sinful came later, from Paul, and then theologians long after Jesus walked the earth. But Jesus? He dined with those called sinners, forgave freely, and saw through the illusion of guilt.
He didn’t label people by their mistakes.
He reminded them of their true nature.
And this is precisely what A Course in Miracles affirms:
“You are still as God created you.” — ACIM W-pI.93.7:1
“Sin is not real because God is.” — ACIM W-pI.101.6:2
“Innocence is not a partial attribute. It is not real until it is total.” — ACIM T-14. V. 7:1
There is profound relief in remembering:
- You are not broken.
- You are not guilty.
- You are not a sinner in need of fixing.
You are a beloved extension of God — still holy, still worthy, still whole.
The idea of sin was meant to control minds, not free them. But the truth? The truth sets you free. And that Truth lives in you.
So if the teachings of Jesus have ever felt twisted, fear-based, or shameful, you’re not alone. Many of us felt the distortion early on, but now we’re remembering.
You never left God.
God never condemned you.
And nothing real can be threatened.
Practice For the Week
Let this be the week you stop trying to earn your worth and start remembering it:

Place your hand over your heart

Breathe into the truth: “I am as God created me.”

Let go of the story that ever said otherwise
Smile at your innocence. It’s real. It always was.
