When Spirituality Becomes Another Mask

Practical Wisdom: Living 5D in a 3D World
Integrating higher consciousness into everyday life—one miracle at a time!
When Being “Spiritual” Isn’t Freedom
Hi, Beloved!
Last week was St. Patrick’s Day.
And as I was reflecting on it this morning, I found myself smiling at how many things we do simply because we were taught to do them. Wear green. Celebrate this. Believe that. Follow the other.
And then a deeper awareness came in…
How much of what we call “spirituality” is just another version of that?
Another set of rules.
Another identity.
Another mask.
I’ve worn many masks in my life.
The one who needed to be right.
The one who needed to be liked.
The one who knew more than everyone else.
The one who tried to be the “perfect spiritual person.”
And if I’m being radically honest…
The spiritual mask was one of the most convincing.
The Ego Loves to Sound Spiritual
There is a version of the ego that doesn’t look like ego at all.
It sounds wise.
It quotes sacred texts.
It speaks about love and unity.
And yet…
It still judges.
It still separates.
It still needs to be right.
It just does it more politely, or so it thinks.
I see this now with so much clarity—not just in the world, but in myself.
Moments where I said all the “right” things…
But internally, I had already decided who was wrong.
Moments where I spoke about peace…
But I was quietly defending a position.
Moments where I believed I was being spiritual…
But I was still standing on the pedestal.
That’s not awakening.
That’s the ego… wearing a more acceptable costume.
Radical Honesty Is the Door
There comes a point on this path where "positive" spirituality alone is not enough.
Where we are invited into something deeper:
Radical honesty.
Not with anyone else…
But with ourselves.
Where am I still needing to be right?
Where am I still judging?
Where do I say I want peace—but defend my identity instead?
This is not comfortable work.
But it is liberating work.
Because the moment you are honest…
you are free to choose again.
From “Becoming Spiritual” to Remembering Truth
For a long time, I thought I was becoming someone new.
More peaceful.
More spiritual.
More aligned.
But what I’ve come to see is this:
We are not becoming anything.
We are removing what we are not.
All the identities.
All the conditioning.
All the learned ways of being.
Until what remains is something simple…
Something honest…
Something that was always there.
Like a child who hasn’t learned how to pretend yet.
The End of Needing to Be Right
One of the most shocking and freeing realizations on this journey is this:
You don’t need to be right…
to be at peace.
In fact, the need to be right
is often the very thing that blocks peace.
When peace becomes more important than being right…
Something softens.
Defenses drop.
Curiosity returns.
Connection becomes possible again.
You begin to listen—not to argue, but to understand.
And in that space…
Something entirely different can emerge.
The Courage to Not Know
There is a quiet maturity that begins to form when we are willing to say:
“I don’t know.”
Not as weakness…
But as wisdom.
Because when you release the need to know everything…
You open to something greater.
Guidance.
Insight.
A deeper intelligence that doesn’t come from the ego.
You begin to listen differently.
And life begins to respond differently.
Lainaism
“The ego doesn’t disappear when you become spiritual…
it just learns a new language.”
Integration in Daily Life
Today, notice gently—without judgment:
- Where do I feel the need to be right?
- Where am I labeling others as wrong?
- Where am I speaking about love… but withholding it?
And instead of correcting others…
Simply become honest with yourself.
That one shift alone begins to dissolve what is false
and reveal what is true.
Closing Transmission
Beloved…
You do not need to become more spiritual
to awaken.
You do not need a new identity,
a new role,
or a new way to present yourself to the world.
You only need the willingness
to see what is not true…
and let it go.
Beneath all the layers,
beyond all the masks,
there is something already whole.
Already peaceful.
Already free.
And it is not found
through perfection…
But through honesty.
Let that be enough for today.
BTW, I love sharing these messages with you!
