True Empathy and the Choice of Timelines

Practical Wisdom: Living 5D in a 3D World
Integrating higher consciousness into everyday life—one miracle at a time!
Hi, Beloved!
There are seasons on the spiritual path when life gently taps us on the shoulder, and seasons when it takes our breath away—sometimes literally. These past months, my lungs became my teachers. The altitude in Colorado, combined with dental infections and a respiratory illness, brought me to the edge of something I hadn’t planned: not being able to breathe. As I lay in bed, wondering if this might be my exit strategy, I found myself laughing at the unglamorous possibility of “death by not breathing” and, even more, resting into a deep acceptance of whatever God’s will actually was.
That time of enforced stillness was also a time of profound clarity. I could no longer rush around, “doing” my spiritual journey. I could only be with it. And in that quiet, something I’ve known for years landed even deeper: at some point, the journey stops being about seeking and becomes about accepting. There comes a moment when chasing the next teacher, the next workshop, or the next spiritual certificate simply reinforces the ego’s favorite identity: the one who is not yet enough.
I remember when my journey began in earnest around 2002. Like so many of you, I devoured books—A New Earth, The Untethered Soul, and so many more. When I was guided to start teaching in 2007, I protested: “Who am I to have a Center for Awareness?” And yet, I listened. I followed that quiet inner certainty that did not feel “mine,” and from that came classes, book clubs, workshops, and eventually my program, The Power of Awareness. In hindsight, I can see it so clearly: The Power of Awareness was the cliff notes to A Course in Miracles, long before I fully realized it.
Over time, especially once I dove deep into ACIM, I reached a turning point. I stopped seeking. I recognized that much of my spiritual activity was the spiritualized ego trying to become someone special: the teacher, the healer, the New York Times bestselling author, the one with the certificates and the big platform. There’s nothing wrong with any of those roles, but for me, life had other plans. Instead of accumulating more, life began gently—and sometimes not so gently—taking things away: my marriage, the lake house, my savings, my life in Atlanta, roles and identities I thought I needed.
What all of that stripping away left me with was something exquisitely simple: I am holy, and always have been.
Integration in Daily Life
Accepting holiness is not a concept. It’s an experience you allow to move through the body and the nervous system, one layer at a time. For me, this meant sitting with the ACIM statement: “I am holy.” Not studying it. Not analyzing it. Not “trying to be” it. Just sitting and feeling it.
When you allow “I am holy” to land, tears may come. Old stories rise to the surface: “I’m not good enough,” “I’m damaged,” “I’m too much,” “I’m not worthy,” “I’m a sinner,” “I’m dirty,” “I’m less than.” These are the echoes of an immature self who made decisions in moments of trauma, abandonment, or confusion. As those stories arise, they are not proof that you are unholy. They are evidence of where holiness was forgotten.
The journey then is simple, though not always easy:
Each time the ego says, “You are broken,” you quietly respond, “I am holy.”
Each time the ego says, “You are a victim,” you softly answer, “I am holy.”
Each time the ego says, “This should not be happening,” you breathe and remember, “If it’s happening, it’s part of the script that leads me home.”
This is where true empathy comes in. ACIM tells us that true empathy is not joining in suffering. It is refusing to make suffering real. The ego’s empathy says, “Poor you. Look what has been done to you. You are weakened and less because of this.” Holy Spirit’s empathy says, “Beloved, you are a holy child of God. This situation is not here to prove your weakness; it is here to reveal your strength.”
In practical terms, this means we can feel our human emotions—grief, sadness, anger—without making them our identity. We can witness others’ pain without collapsing into it. We can support and help in very human ways, while still holding a 30,000-foot view that everything unfolding is part of a perfectly written curriculum for awakening.
We are living in a collective moment where the timelines have split. One track continues the old dream of right and wrong, victim and bully, attack and defense. The other track is the happy dream, the new earth, where we live under no laws but God’s. We don’t wait for a sign on the highway that says “Welcome to the New Earth.” We become it.
In daily life, this looks like asking:
Am I joining in suffering, or standing as a reminder of strength?
Am I recycling the past, or allowing something new to emerge?
Am I obeying the laws of fear, or the laws of God?
Each honest moment of noticing is a track-switch for the soul.
Lainaism
"True empathy isn’t joining someone in their pain; it’s standing so steadily in your holiness that they remember their own."
Closing Transmission
Beloved, if you are reading these words, I know something about you: you did not incarnate for the old story. You did not come to Earth at this time just to rehearse victimhood one more round. You came to remember, in the middle of the wildness, that you are a ray of the Sun—not separate, not less, not broken, but an extension of pure, radiant Love.
Yes, there will be moments when the ego screams, when the news attempts to pull you into outrage, when loved ones choose a different path, and you cannot reach them with your current language. That’s okay. None of that has the final word. The script is written, and within that script, your decision to accept your holiness is the pivot point that changes everything.
As we move forward together, I invite you to try on a new internal stance:
“I am not here to fix the world. I am here to remember God’s love and let it live as me.”
From that place, empathy becomes a blessing instead of a burden. Timelines become choices instead of threats. And your life becomes what it was always meant to be: a simple, joyful, holy expression of the One who created you.
Take a deep breath with me now. Feel the air enter your lungs as a quiet affirmation from God: You are meant to be here. You are meant to breathe. You are meant to shine.
We are already on the train, Beloved. The only question left is: will we ride it as victims of fate, or as holy beings enjoying the ride home?
Namaste!
The holiness in me sees the holiness in you.
