You Are the One: Ending the Ego’s World from the Inside Out

Hello Beloved,

There’s a question every sincere seeker eventually asks:

“How many of us does it take to truly change this world?”

The ego wants a number.
A movement.
A threshold to cross.

The Manual for Teachers gives a radical answer:

“The answer to this question is — one.”

Not one “special” person with a robe, a title, or a platform.

One mind that fully accepts its holiness.
One mind that releases judgment.
One mind that stops feeding the ego’s world, and chooses only love.

And that, Beloved, is where you come in.

The Day the Ego’s World Ends (For You)

We’re living through an intense time on this planet.
Systems built on greed, separation, and control are trembling.
Many feel fear, confusion, or outrage.

But from the perspective of A Course in Miracles, what’s happening is actually a transition of worlds:

• The world the ego made — based on guilt, attack, and sacrifice.

• The happy dream — a forgiven world, where we recognize everyone as the Christ in disguise.

The ego believes the world will end in catastrophe.
The Course quietly says:

• The world ends in joy, because it was a place of sorrow.

• It ends in peace, because it was a place of war.

• It ends in laughter, because it was a place of tears.

And how does that “ending” happen?

Not with a bang.
Not on the news.
Not because the headlines change.

It ends the moment you stop using the world to justify your judgments.

It ends when you truly accept:

• I am as God created me.

• So is everyone else — no exceptions.

At that point, the old world simply has no more purpose for you.
You’re still in it, but you’re no longer of it.

The Illusion of “Many” and the Truth of One

The Manual explains that teachers of God appear to be many only because the world believes in separation.

Different bodies.
Different personalities.
Different stories and paths.

But in truth, there is:

• One purpose: remembering Love.

• One content: Christ consciousness.

• One Teacher: the Holy Spirit in all of us.

This is why the Course can say only one teacher is needed.

Because when you accept your identity as God created you, you are no longer waiting for anyone else to “get it.” You become the demonstration — in your family, your workplace, your relationships, your community.

You stop asking,

“When will everyone wake up?”

And start embodying,

“I will be the one who does.”

Every Irritation Is an Invitation

The ego loves big theories, big problems, and big villains.

The Holy Spirit works with something much simpler and closer to home:

Your everyday reactions.

In Class 12, I shared this little compass you can use:

• Every irritation is an invitation.

• Every strong judgment shows you where your mind is still choosing separation.

• Every “exception” to your love reveals where the ego still holds veto power.

The moment you catch yourself:

• Hating a politician

• Despising a public figure

• Resenting a family member

• Holding a spiritual “enemy”

…you are looking at your classroom.

Not because you’ve done anything wrong.
But because Love is showing you where you are still under ego’s spell — and inviting you home.

How Does a Teacher of God Spend Their Day?

The Manual asks this beautiful question:

“How should the teacher of God spend his day?”

For the advanced teacher, the question doesn’t even arise.
There is such deep trust that the day simply unfolds as guided.

But for most of us on the way there, the Course gives very practical guidance:

1. Start the day with God.
   Even a sincere moment of willingness — “Holy Spirit, lead the way today” — saves time and reorients the mind.

2. Stay open to course corrections.
   If you “forget” and slip into fear or judgment, that’s not failure — it’s feedback. Begin again. Forgiveness lets you reset as many times as needed.

3. End the day in gratitude.
   Review your day with the Holy Spirit, not the ego. See where you chose love, where you forgot, and where you are growing.

And slowly, something sacred happens:

• Your relationship to time shifts.

• Your to-do list stops running your nervous system.

• Your life becomes less about control and more about trust.

You begin to live from the knowing that:

“The road before me is smoothed by Love.
Everything that comes is for my good.”

From Magic to Miracles

The Manual calls the ego’s way of coping “magic.”

Magic is any attempt to find safety, worth, or identity outside of you:

• “If my house is perfect, then I’m safe.”

• “If they approve of me, then I’m worthy.”

• “If I hold onto this resentment, I stay in control.”

The Course doesn’t condemn any of it.
It simply tells us the truth:

Magic doesn’t work.
Not for long.
Not in the way we truly want.

Miracles, on the other hand, don’t rearrange the world.
They rearrange your perception.

They return you to your true foundation:

• I am loved.

• I am guided.

• I am safe in God.

• I am here to extend what I am.

From that foundation, your actions become simpler, cleaner, and much more joyful.

The Freedom to Stop Suffering

One of the most empowering recognitions on the spiritual path is this:

Pain may be inevitable.
Suffering is always optional.

People may say things.
Events may happen.
Bodies will age, change, and eventually be laid down.

But no one can control how you choose to see.
No one can force you to judge.
No one can make you give up your peace.

All suffering, the Course says, is ultimately self-chosen — not consciously (“I’d love to suffer today!”), but unconsciously, by continuing to side with the ego’s interpretations.

The moment you recognize:

“I don’t have to suffer over this. I can choose peace instead.”

…you have opened the door to the new earth.
Right where you stand.

Integration in Daily Life

Here are some gentle ways to live this teaching this week:

1. Claim your role as “the one.”
   When you see something upsetting in the world, pause and say:
   “I don’t need the world to change first. I am willing to be the one who chooses love here.”

2. Use irritation as a bell of awakening.
   Each time you feel triggered, silently ask:
   “What is this showing me about where I’m still choosing the ego?”
   Then invite the Holy Spirit to reinterpret it.

3. Trade a to-do list for a to-be list.
   Before your day begins, ask:
   “Who do I want to be today?”
   (Loving, honest, gentle, defenseless, open-minded…)
   Let your beingness lead your doing.

4. Take a “miracle minute” when overwhelmed.
   Stop, close your eyes, and repeat:
   “God is with me. I cannot be deceived. I choose peace instead of this.”
   Breathe. Let the nervous system settle. Then move again from center.

5. End the day as a teacher of God.
   Before sleep, gently review:
   Where did I choose love today? Where did I forget?
   Offer it all to Spirit and rest knowing you are learning perfectly.

Beloved,

Take a breath and let this sink in:

You are not waiting for the world to heal so you can finally relax.
The world is waiting for you to remember who you are.

You are not a powerless observer of chaos.
You are a luminous spark of God, temporarily appearing as a human being with a name and a story — carrying within you the same Christ light that walked this earth as Jesus.

When you choose to see through Love’s eyes,
the old world ends for you, right where you stand.

Not because the headlines change,
but because you do.

So today, as you move through your very ordinary, very holy life, let this be your quiet declaration:

“I am willing to be the one.
I am willing to be the proof that Love is real.
I am willing to let the new earth begin in me.”

And so it is.
