Every day, life places us at a crossroads.
Not once.
Not twice.
Hundreds of times.
A doctor's report arrives.
The news flashes across our screen.
Someone we love makes an unexpected decision.
The economy shifts.
It's election day.
A relationship changes.
Our plans unravel.
The future refuses to tell us what comes next.
And in every one of those moments, there is an invitation far more important than the event itself.
Will I meet this with worry... or with wonder?
For years, I believed the answer depended on what was happening outside of me.
Now I know something entirely different.
The unknown has never been the problem.
My relationship with the unknown has always been the invitation.
The Unknown Reveals the Teacher I Have Chosen
A Course in Miracles tells us:
"Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God."
If that is true—and I have come to trust that it is—then the unknown cannot threaten what I really am.
It can only reveal which teacher I am listening to.
The ego speaks the language of worry.
The Holy Spirit speaks the language of wonder.
Both can look at the exact same event.
One contracts.
The other expands.
One asks,
"What if everything goes wrong?"
The other quietly smiles and asks,
"I wonder what Love is revealing here?"
Worry and Wonder Cannot Occupy the Same Mind
This realization has become one of the simplest ways I know to recognize which voice is guiding me.
Worry says:
"I need certainty before I can relax."
Wonder says:
"I am already safe enough to discover."
Worry insists on controlling the future.
Wonder trusts the Presence that has already arrived.
The event hasn't changed.
The interpreter has.
My Greatest Teachers Wear Tiny Shoes
One of the greatest surprises of my life has been discovering who God chose to deepen my awakening.
Not another spiritual teacher.
Not another workshop.
Not another mystical experience.
My grandchildren.
I affectionately refer to them as my grand-Gurus.
For the last three and a half years, Ryder and Ellie have been quietly teaching me something no book ever could.
Children don't wake up asking,
"What do I know?"
They wake up asking,
"What can we discover today?"
A stick becomes a magic wand.
A cardboard box becomes a spaceship.
A puddle becomes an adventure.
Wonder isn't something they practice.
It is simply the atmosphere they live in.
Somewhere along the way, many of us traded wonder for certainty.
We became spiritually knowledgeable...
but not always spiritually available.
Children have gently reminded me that awakening doesn't end in certainty.
It blossoms into wonder.
The Question That Changes Everything
At the end of a recent class, we watched the closing scene from Aladdin.
Just before Jasmine steps onto the magic carpet, Aladdin reaches out his hand and asks one simple question:
"Do you trust me?"
She doesn't know where they're going.
She doesn't know how the carpet flies.
She doesn't know what waits on the other side of saying yes.
She simply takes his hand.
Only then does she discover...
A whole new world.
I couldn't help but smile.
Isn't that exactly how the Holy Spirit guides us?
Not with complete explanations.
Not with guarantees.
Not with a detailed itinerary.
Only with an invitation.
Do you trust Me?
The Happy Dream Begins Here
Perhaps the greatest miracle isn't discovering what tomorrow holds.
Perhaps the miracle is remembering that Love has already gone ahead of us.
Every unknown becomes an opportunity.
Not to prove ourselves.
Not to protect ourselves.
But to discover another place where God has already been waiting.
The ego asks for proof before it trusts.
Love trusts...
and therefore discovers.
Integration in Daily Life
The next time uncertainty appears, pause before reacting.
Instead of asking,
"What if this goes wrong?"
Ask yourself:
"Am I meeting this moment with worry... or with wonder?"
Notice which voice is speaking.
Then choose again.
Not because the circumstances have changed.
Because your teacher can.
Sometimes the greatest miracle is simply replacing one question.
Instead of:
"What should I fear?"
Ask:
"Holy Spirit... what would You have me wonder about instead?"

Life has never asked us to know everything.
It has only ever asked us to trust Love one step at a time.
So when the future stretches out before you like an unopened path...
when life reaches toward you with an outstretched hand...
when your heart hears the quiet whisper,
"Do you trust Me?"
may you be willing to say...
"Yes."
And may that simple "yes" carry you beyond worry...
into the breathtaking wonder that has been waiting for you all along.
After all...
the miracle isn't that God can show us a whole new world.
The miracle is that we become childlike enough to let Him.
